EXCLUSIVE: Boy-centered channel Disney XD has greenlighted a comedy pilot starring YouTube personality Zach Fox. In it, 18-year-old Fox will play a fictionalized, younger version of himself, Zach Fox, a high-school sophomore who anchors his own show on the school’s student-run TV station. The project combines semi-improvised and gonzo-style man-on-the-street segments in the same outrageous style that Fox uses in his videos. David Nickoll (The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson) executive produces the pilot, which is now casting to begin production in October in Los Angeles. It’s a Laugh Prods. will produce.

Additionally, Fox also will host Disney XD’s upcoming hidden camera prank series, Just Kidding, in which everyday kids pull off humorous pranks on unsuspecting adults. In addition to hosting, in each episode of the Canadian series, slated for fall, Fox himself will do his own prank.

Berwyn, PA native Fox drew the attention of Disney XD programmers with his YouTube videos — improvisational interviews, comedic shorts, musical parodies and several web series including Limelight, The CHeeSe and Stoga Gone Wild. They contacted him for an overall deal and developed the pilot or him. Here is one of Fox’s man-on-the-street bits, in which he often wears thematic costumes. Nickoll is with Paradigm, Principato-Young and Lev Ginsburg.
