About

David Nickoll is a Showrunner, Writer, Producer, Director and Speechwriter

Listen to an interview with David on the podcast “A Typical Disgusting Display.”

David Nickoll is a writer, showrunner and executive producer who has spent his career making television funnier, often while standing just off camera wondering what went wrong. He got his start at Saturday Night Live, went on to write and produce The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and later served as head writer for The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Queen Latifah Show and Comedy Central’s @midnight with Chris Hardwick. Along the way, he produced the independent feature Friends Forever, starring Amanda Peet and Michael Kelly, worked on Boogie Nights through the Sundance Institute’s Mark Silverman Fellowship, and spent four years as an executive producer at NFL Network – finding a professionally acceptable way to spend his days watching sports.

More recently, Nickoll has specialized in combining comedy, sports and big personalities, producing and writing a string of specials and series with Kevin Hart, Snoop Dogg, Kenan Thompson and James Corden, including Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart & Snoop Dogg, Back That Year Up, World Cup After Hours with James Corden, and the Sports Emmy-winning Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson. He currently serves as executive producer, showrunner and head writer of Prime Video’s Good Sports with Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson. When he’s not making television, Nickoll is active in Los Angeles civic and nonprofit organizations, including serving as Board Chair of the Los Angeles Parks Foundation and President of the Harvard-Westlake Alumni Association – proof that occasionally this producer does something productive.
